The Institute for Innovative Vehicles at the heart of Quebec’s innovation chain

We are proud to make our expertise available to Quebec businesses and organizations. They can count on us to help them increase their capacity to innovate by carrying out bold projects. We also make it our duty to be actively involved in Québec’s innovation ecosystem and help create the Québec of tomorrow.  – François Adam, ing, General Manager at IVI

History

The Innovative Vehicle Institute was founded in 2015 following the merger of the Centre national du transport avancé (CNTA) and the Institut du transport avancé du Québec (ITAQ). As a result, we have more than 20 years of experience in transportation electrification and the development of technological solutions.

Winner of the Prix Génie Innovation 2016 for the development of an electric school bus, we have worked over the past 5 years with more than 120 companies, organizations, and partners.

In 2019, we received an investment of $12.7 million from the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation to begin construction of our new building. This new building will make the IVI the only research centre of its kind in Québec and Canada.
